The test has four sections as detailed below:The ID Aptitude Test is specifically designed to mimic the many tasks that an Instructional Designer has to explicitly and implicitly perform on a daily basis. Keeping in mind the complexities of the work-place scenario, the options in Sections A, B, C and D are not designed to be “black and white”. The difference between various options to a question is minimal, and borders on “gray”. It is the ability to recognize this minor distinction that sets apart a good and intuitive instructional designer from the rest. Making the options very unique will dilute the test, and defeat the very purpose of the test – for it will then not mimic the real-life scenario.
- Section A - Comprehension: Comprehend with at least 75% accuracy the academic and jargon-heavy text written by busy Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and deconstruct it into universally accepted learning constructs, such as definition, features, characteristics, functions, application and so on.
- Section B - Structuring/ Teaching Orientation: Re-organize and present the content in ways that appeal to, and are meaningful to a new learner who is just beginning the process of understanding the content.
- Section C - Language proficiency: Write content that is grammatically correct, instructionally clear and concise, and devoid of Indianisms.
- Section D - Basic ID: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of popular ID frameworks and models.
